The projects I’m most passionate about allow me to utilize both my creative and analytical skills. My professional background is in Marketing, Communications, Social Media Strategy, Website Design and Content Management, Graphic Design, Donor Development, Nonprofit Leadership, and Talent Acquisition.

I value inclusion, collaboration and innovation and social issues which I am especially passionate about include diversity, equity and inclusion, animal welfare, suicide prevention, education, media ethics, health care, art therapy, end-of-life care, technology access and the LGBTQ+ community.

After studying journalism and fine art in college with plans to work in advertising, I took a detour and ended up focusing on Human Resources and Recruiting for several years. I ultimately came full-circle, though, and have been working in creative roles in the nonprofit space for the past 12+ years.

In 2009, I joined Purrfect Pals, a wonderful organization in Arlington, WA which operates a sanctuary for cats with special needs and five Puget Sound adoption centers, as a volunteer and Board Member. Two years later, I left my day job in the video game industry to join the Purrfect Pals staff as Executive Director.

As ED, I provided leadership for this $1.6M nonprofit organization with a team of 24 paid employees and 600+ volunteers and reported to the Board of Directors. My responsibilities included organizational planning, budget oversight, program management, veterinary clinic operations, fundraising, brand management, digital and print marketing, social media, web design, event planning, public relations and Human Resources. During this time I also managed a $1M capital campaign and oversaw a shelter expansion construction project.

I spent five wonderful years as Executive Director before moving into a newly created position – Director of Community Engagement. This transition allowed me to hand off a few of my hats to a new Executive Director and focus on the fun stuff: digital and print marketing, social media, web design, email marketing, search engine optimization and marketing analytics, fund development (including individual, workplace and major gifts, grant writing and planned giving), donor stewardship, public relations and special events.

I discovered my love of nonprofit web design while redesigning the Purrfect Pals website twice. The most recent redesign, completed in 2019, is much more engaging and was created with a mobile first approach to design. My goal was to build a site which would become a two-way conversation between Purrfect Pals and its supporters, encouraging donors, adopters, volunteers and community members to share their stories.

Since leaving Purrfect Pals, I have provided web design, marketing and community engagement support to nonprofit organizations and small businesses in a variety of sectors and industries. They include: Social Services, Healthcare, Animal Welfare, Domestic Violence Awareness, Suicide Prevention, LGBTQ+ Equity and Inclusion, Social Justice, Information Technology, Insurance, Real Estate, Construction, Art and Design, Wine, Retail, and Consulting.
